Hamilton Safe Receives U.S. Department of Homeland Security SAFETY Act Designation
Cincinnati, Ohio (September 1, 2011) - The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Science and Technology Directorate recently awarded Hamilton Safe Company, Inc. a Support Anti-Terrorism by Fostering Effective Technologies (SAFETY) Act designation for its Entrance Control System.
The Entrance Control System provides a secure, metal detector traffic control entrance, designed to prevent access into a facility by individuals with firearms. The technology averts facility ambush by preventing simultaneous entry by multiple persons while maintaining steady traffic flow.
"It's a great honor to have Hamilton Safe's industry-leading Entrance Control System recognized by the Department of Homeland Security," said Bob Leslie, President and CEO, Hamilton Safe. "Our system's unique and sophisticated entrance and exit monitoring capabilities make a takeover robbery almost impossible, and that's what many of our customers require in order to give consumers peace of mind and assure their safety inside the facility."
The SAFETY Act, passed by Congress as part of the Homeland Security SAFETY Act of 2002, was instated to guarantee that security technology works as advertised, and to provide liability protection for re-sellers and end users of the technology in the event of a hostile or terrorist attack.
The Department's goal is to encourage the development and deployment of new, innovative anti-terrorism products and services by providing liability protections. For more details, visit www.safetyact.gov.
